Ghana recently hosted its first Koshien Baseball Championship at Labone Senior High School, a landmark event organized by the Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation under the leadership of President Ernest Danso. This tournament, held in collaboration with the Japan-Africa Baseball and Softball Association (J-ABS) and Keio University, marked a significant step in popularizing baseball in Ghana.

The event, which took place on August 31 and September 1, saw the participation of ten Keio University volunteers, who have been in Ghana since early August to train local players and coaches. Their efforts are part of the J-ABS Africa 55 Koshien Project, aimed at fostering baseball in 54 African countries.
Ghana is now the third African nation, after Tanzania and Kenya, to host a Koshien-style tournament, with other countries like Nigeria and South Sudan soon to follow. The tournament offered Ghanaian students a platform to showcase their skills and highlighted the growing influence of baseball across Africa.
