Ghana Premier League clubs face venue crises as Accra Sports Stadium set for renovation shutdown

0

Accra Hearts Of Oak, Legon Cities, Great Olympics, and Accra Lions face concern due to the recent announcement by the National Sports Authority to close down the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Accra Sports Stadium, which is home to these four clubs and other GFA-sanctioned events, is set to shut down temporarily from Friday, 1st December 2023, for renovations.

This closure forces the clubs to relocate and find alternative grounds for their fixtures.

The Youth and Sports Ministry, in collaboration with the National Sports Authority, intends to close the stadium to address crucial areas requiring renovation.

Their decision, announced on Monday, 20th November 2023, aims to provide uninterrupted time to rectify the stadium’s critical issues.

This development has left the mentioned clubs in a state of worry as they navigate the challenge of securing new venues for their upcoming matches in the Ghana Premier League and other sanctioned competitions.
