Ghana has made a strong impression at the 2024 World Armwrestling Championship in Chisinau, Moldova. Leading the charge, Blessed Nunoo secured 4th place in the 60kg Junior Girls left arm category, marking the best performance by any Ghanaian at the event so far. Nunoo is set to compete again in the right arm category on Monday, August 19, with hopes of a podium finish.
The “Golden Arms of Ghana” team also features double gold medallists and African champions Grace Minta of the Ghana Police Service and Edward Yamoah Asamoah of the Ghana Immigration Service, alongside Blessing Abeka Nunoo and Godwin Sackey, who are both civilians with the Ghana Immigration Service. The team is under the guidance of Head Coach Nii Otoo Larkyne.

Ranked 19th in the world and 2nd in Africa, Ghana aims to clinch its first-ever World Championship medal, following their success at the 13th African Games in Accra, where they won 41 medals.
In a significant honor, Charles Osei Asibey, President of Ghana Armwrestling and Vice President of the World Armwrestling Federation, was recognized by the global body for his contributions to the sport’s development.
