Kamaldeen Sulemana’s unfortunate absence from the AFCON roster for Ghana’s Black Stars has been confirmed. Despite his initial inclusion in Chris Haughton’s 55-man provisional squad for the tournament in Ivory Coast, Sulemana’s fitness won’t permit his participation.
Russell Martin, Southampton’s manager, has clarified that Sulemana’s return to action is expected around late January or early February, effectively sidelining him from the AFCON. The winger had encountered a hamstring injury back in November, dealing a significant setback to Ghana’s team as they approach the tournament.
Sulemana’s absence is a considerable loss for the Black Stars, given his pace and contributions to the team’s dynamics. However, his injury timeline clashes with the tournament schedule, leaving Ghana to strategize without his influential presence on the field.
