The Ghanaian government has decided to place a ban on the importation of over 20 goods, including rice, tripe (known locally as “yemuadie”), and diapers. This move is part of a broader initiative aimed at bolstering domestic production in the country.

During a press briefing in parliament, Minister of Trade and Industry, K.T Hammond, highlighted the significant amount of money the country has spent on importing these items. Specifically, he mentioned that Ghana had allocated about $164 million for the importation of animal stomachs, bladders, and chunks of intestines (yemuadie).
