The Ghana Health Service (GHS) announced the development, assuring the public that all required steps are being taken to monitor and contain the situation.
This recent case of the viral disease was confirmed last week, according to Dr. Dennis Laryea, Deputy Director of Public Health in charge of Disease Surveillance at GHS.

To stop the virus from spreading further, contacts of the confirmed case are being monitored.
In August, the Western Region of Ghana reported the country’s first MPOX case, with 25 contacts found. The patient’s mother tested positive shortly after, increasing the number of cases nationwide to two as of October 31.
