Virgin Atlantic has announced that it would be returning to Ghana in May 2025, when it will resume daily flights between Accra and London Heathrow.
In an effort to give passengers the much-needed competition and variety, the airline is operating this route for the first time since 2013.
The UK is home to the third-largest Ghanaian diaspora in the world, and the new route is intended to fulfil the growing demand for travel between Ghana and the UK.

The British Airline made this known in a statement released yesterday, September 2, 2024.
Additionally, connectivity to Virgin Atlantic’s vast US route network, which includes stops in New York, Boston, Washington, DC, Miami, and Los Angeles, will be advantageous to passengers travelling via London.
Airbus A330-300 and A330-900neo aircraft will be used to perform the daily flights starting on May 1, 2025. These aircraft will have an onboard social area in addition to Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class, Premium, Economy Delight, Classic, and Light cabins. Additionally, the airline is projected to offer 30 tonnes of capacity every trip for items like fresh fruit between Ghana and important markets in the US and the UK, making the route a significant cargo corridor.
With regard to the new service, Virgin Atlantic Chief Commercial Officer, Juha Jarvinen said, “We see huge opportunities to connect friends, relatives, and businesses with our new service, as well as providing much-needed competition and choice on the Accra to London route.”
“We look forward to launching in 2025 and reminding Ghanaians of the iconic Virgin Atlantic brand and award-winning experience, delivered by our amazing people.”
