West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus has been charged by the English FA for “improper manner and/or violent conduct” following his red card during the 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday. The Ghanaian international has until Thursday, October 24, to provide a response to the charge. This development adds to what has been a tumultuous week for Kudus, who was both hero and villain in an eventful London derby.

Kudus had an early moment of glory, scoring his second goal of the season for West Ham and giving his team an early advantage. His clinical finish in the first half raised hopes for the Hammers in what looked like a promising start. However, Tottenham quickly turned the match around in the second half, scoring four unanswered goals to take control of the game.
Frustration grew for Kudus as the match slipped away from West Ham. In a heated moment, he became involved in a confrontation where he raised his hand, striking both Tottenham players Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr in the face. Initially booked with a yellow card, a VAR review upgraded his punishment to a red card, ending his afternoon prematurely.
As a result of his dismissal, Kudus will now miss West Ham’s next three or more matches depending on the results of the FA charges, a significant setback for both the player and the club. This incident capped off a difficult week for Kudus, who had just returned from a challenging international break with Ghana.
