How bodyguard and Uber driver got injured in bid to protect Madina NPP PC

A group of attackers allegedly attempted to attack the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Madina Constituency, Hon. Robert Lamptey, during the Homowo festival celebrations in Oyarifa, a suburb of Accra on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

The suspects, Latif Bako, Ebenezer Ewuzie, Stephen Owusu and Ebenezer Adjei, along with others attacked and inflicted machete wounds on the victims and as a result, three individuals including one suspect suffered significant injuries.

All three are currently receiving medical treatment.

The NPP parliamentary candidate had joined the Homowo Festival celebrations to show his support when a young man attempted to attack him, according to reports by Radio and TV personality Okyere Foster of Kingdom FM.

But the candidate’s security reacted quickly to stop the onslaught, which resulted in one of the attackers cutting the bodyguard’s palm with a cutlass.

The injured party was promptly transported to the hospital, but the crowd pursued them with the intention of causing additional harm.

Amidst the chaos, an attack resulted in a broken hand for the Uber driver who had transported the injured guard to the hospital.

Four suspects linked to the attacks have been arrested by authorities.
The police said “suspects Latif Bako, Stephen Owusu and Ebenezer Ewuzi are in custody assisting Police investigation, while efforts are underway to get the other accomplices currently at large arrested to face justice.”
The police assured the public that anyone who disturbs public peace will be arrested and made to face the law.
