Is Thomas Partey really too sick to play for Ghana? GFA remains unsure

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is caught in a dilemma over the availability of star midfielder Thomas Partey for their upcoming match against Sudan. According to the GFA’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, Arsenal reported that Partey was ill and unable to join the national team. However, questions remain over the authenticity of the claim.

“When we were told Thomas Partey was ill, we asked Arsenal for evidence,” Twum shared in a phone interview with Max TV. “They sent us an email along with their medical report, but we still weren’t fully convinced. So, we requested that they send Partey over so our medical team could assess him and verify if he was truly unfit.”

Arsenal’s response? Another email, stating that Partey felt uncomfortable traveling for the long assessment trip due to his condition. The London club urged the GFA to reconsider their stance.

“We deliberated again, and the technical team decided not to push the issue further,” Twum explained. “If Partey claims he’s unwell, and we force him to travel, who would take the blame if anything goes wrong?”

This hesitation has fueled speculation about Partey’s loyalty to the national team. Is his club career at Arsenal taking priority over playing for Ghana? With an important game against Sudan on the horizon, the GFA now faces the decision of moving forward without one of their key players.

Asante Twum’s update leaves fans wondering: Is Partey’s absence genuine or just a matter of convenience?
