The confiscated products, which include brands such as Oris Double Apple, Business Royals, Gold Seal, Bon, Yes, and Business Kings, were found to be non-compliant with the Public Health Act 851, 2012 and the Tobacco Control Regulations (TCR), 2016 (L.I. 2247). These products lacked key elements like graphic health warnings, the “For Sale in Ghana” inscription, and Ghana Tax Stamps.
Investigations are underway by the GRA to pinpoint those responsible for this illicit trade. They have committed to collaborating with relevant governmental bodies to ensure the culprits are apprehended and prosecuted. The seized products will be disposed of in accordance with legal procedures. Additionally, the GRA is calling on the public to aid in identifying any warehouses or storage locations involved in this illegal trade, aiming to safeguard national revenue and legitimate businesses.
