Why Ghana’s Mortuary Workers Are Striking

0

The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) has announced plans to embark on a strike starting on 26th September 2024. This decision comes after several unaddressed concerns and grievances that have been piling up over the years.

MOWAG has repeatedly called for the government’s attention to their plight, but the response has been inadequate, prompting this drastic measure.

The association’s demands include the payment of salaries that have been outstanding since 2020, the provision of essential protective equipment, and financial clearance to recruit an additional 500 personnel.

These issues have significantly impacted the workers’ ability to perform their duties safely and effectively.

MOWAG hopes that by taking this action, the government will finally address their long-standing concerns.
