MTN Ghana, a major telecom company, has revealed plans to increase the prices of its products and services starting from November 28, 2023. This decision is likely to result in a minimum 15 percent price hike across all MTN Ghana products and services. The company attributes this increase to rising operational costs.

In a customer notice issued on November 24, 2023, MTN stated, “Dear Valued Customer, kindly be informed that effective 28th November 2023, prices of MTN products will be revised upwards due to increased operational costs.” This message was sent out to inform customers about the impending price adjustment.
The price increase will affect MTN Ghana’s large customer base, which saw a year-over-year growth of 12.8% in 2022, bringing the total number of mobile subscribers to 28.6 million. However, due to the government’s SIM re-registration exercise, MTN had to disconnect over 5 million users in December 2022 after they failed to properly register their SIM cards and link them to their Ghana cards.
