Mzbel’s son, Okomfo Black, has recently shared in an interview that his choice of traditional and ancestral worship has presented some challenges in a community where Christianity and Islam are dominant. He questioned the existence of a supreme God, suggesting that every being is a god and should not be given special recognition. This view was not well-received by many conservative Ghanaians, leading to some parents of his schoolmates distancing their children from him.
Mzbel disclosed this issue in a Facebook post, confirming that the situation is already affecting her son at school. She did not specify the exact treatment her son is receiving but mentioned that some parents have warned their children not to associate with Okomfo Black for fear of influencing their Christian beliefs.
Despite this, Mzbel expressed her contentment that her son understands his ancestral practices and beliefs. She stated in an Instagram post that they don’t believe in the existence of an Almighty God because they view every living thing as a god, recognizing and honoring all these energies during their libation ceremonies. She also emphasized their connection to their ancestors, whose blood and spirit they believe run through them.
