Following a press release from the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC-Ghana), reports that a Ghana paralympic-team absconded upon arrival in Oslo, Norway have been debunked. The NPC-Ghana has clarified that the team in question is not affiliated with them and that the news circulating is false and misleading.
The Committee emphasized that it has not facilitated or sponsored any Paralympic team’s travel to Norway for international competitions. According to NPC-Ghana, they had no prior knowledge of any such trip and did not endorse it. The individuals involved are not recognized by NPC-Ghana and do not represent the organization in any capacity.

Additionally, NPC-Ghana highlighted that with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, their legitimate Paralympic athletes have participated in qualifiers across Africa and Europe and have all returned to Ghana after their competitions.
The press release labeled the purported team as a case of impersonation and misrepresentation. The matter is currently under investigation by national security agencies, with NPC-Ghana committed to cooperating fully.
NPC-Ghana also criticized the Norwegian Embassy for failing to verify the authenticity of the visa applications, which led to the issuance of visas to the fake team.
The Committee urges media outlets to retract the false reports and issue apologies to the Ghana Paralympic community, stressing the importance of accurate reporting to protect the integrity of disability sports in Ghana.
