Ing. David Osafo Adonteng of the National Road Safety Authority has criticized NDC flagbearer John Mahama’s stance on ‘Okada’ transportation, emphasizing its illegality in Ghana. Adonteng insists that these vehicles are limited to courier services, highlighting the joint enforcement efforts by the NRSA and the Ghana Police Service.

Meanwhile, Mahama has promised to legalize and regulate ‘Okada’ operations if elected in the December 2024 elections, proposing the introduction of electric motorbikes. Despite the current legal restrictions, these vehicles are a common sight across the country, particularly in areas with limited transportation options.
