The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has destroyed over 150,000 kilograms of various illicit drugs seized between 2021 and 2024. The destroyed substances included 46,128 kg of cannabis, 37 kg of heroin, 10 kg of speedball, 9 kg of cocaine, 3 kg of methamphetamine, 105,700 kg of MDMA, and quantities of codeine.
The destruction exercise was carried out at the Bundase Military Camp in the Ningo-Prampram District. Dr. Kenneth Adu-Amanfoh, NACOC’s Director-General, emphasized that eliminating these narcotics represents a significant step toward protecting lives, families, and communities from the destructive impacts of drug abuse.
Dr. Adu-Amanfoh stated that by removing these drugs, NACOC aims to send a powerful message to drug traffickers that their activities have no place in Ghana.
He stressed that combating drug-related issues requires more than just enforcement; prevention, education, and rehabilitation are vital to a comprehensive approach. He highlighted Ghana’s progress in dismantling drug trafficking networks, disrupting supply chains, and enhancing community safety.
