Placement Issues: High School Secretariat makes headway

0

The Free Senior High School Secretariat in Ghana has reportedly resolved 60 to 70% of placement issues for incoming students across the country. According to Nana Afrah Sika Mensah, the Deputy Coordinator of the Secretariat, over 6,000 issues were received, primarily from students who were not placed in any school or wanted to change schools due to location. She assured that the Secretariat staff were addressing the issues and expected to resolve them within 24 hours.

The Deputy Coordinator further explained the school selection process. Students with a single aggregate are to select schools under category “A”, while those with aggregate 10 to 14 should select from category “B.” Students with aggregate 15 and above are to choose schools from category “C” and select the program for their courses. She expressed optimism about resolving all issues as early as possible, urging parents to be patient.

Nana Mensah also emphasized that schools selected on the Self-Placement Portal could be changed as many times as the candidate wished until they enrolled. She reassured students, especially those who could not be matched with their choices during the automatic placement, that all schools with vacancies had been uploaded on the portal for self-placement without hitches. She also cautioned parents not to pay money to anyone since the exercise was free.
