Police nab 10 suspects as efforts to clamp down on landguard activities in the capital intensify

East Legon Police of the Ghana Police service has arrested some ten persons suspected to be engaged in landguard activities in the capital.

The suspects, identified as Harry Otu Hesse, Khalid Adnam, Tahiru Yakubu, Awudu Salifu, Michael Laryea, Theophilus Mensah, and Mustapha Awudu, were arrested during a recent police operation.

Kwetey Aryettey, Salifu Moses, and Ibrahim Musah, were also apprehended by the police.

The Gborbu Wulomo, Nuumo Borketey Laweh XXXIII,who is among the landowners impacted by activities of the suspected landguards, filed a complaint that led to their detention.

The accused land guards had been intimidating customers on land sold for construction at Adjirigano, according to the police report.

They allegedly interfered with building operations, seizing tools and blocking labourers employed to develop the property.

The culprits in Adjirigano 69 were apprehended by the East Legon Police on August 28, 2024, following an intelligence-led operation.

Cutlasses and other items were taken from the accused by the police during the operation.

The ten suspects have reportedly been charged, had their statements taken, and are presently in police custody, according to sources.
