The Chief Justice ordered Ayamga’s removal from the courtroom, citing him for contempt, and he was then escorted to a detention room to await trial. The report indicates that Ayamga was upset about the rejection of his application and a GH¢10,000 cost levied against him, leading to his emotional outburst, particularly towards the Chief Justice.
Despite Addo Attuah and Dr. Bassit Bamba, senior members of the legal community, pleading for mercy on Ayamga’s behalf, the Chief Justice expressed concern over his conduct. She referred to a previous report from the Takoradi High Court that highlighted similar behaviour. The Chief Justice noted that Ayamga’s actions were unsuitable for a lawyer, stressing the importance of upholding professionalism and ethical standards in the courtroom.
