As the NPP’s National Delegates Conference draws near, General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua has shared guidelines for the upcoming elections. These rules, established by the presidential election committee, aim to maintain fairness throughout the voting process.

At a press conference in Accra on Thursday, November 4, 2023, the General Secretary highlighted a shift in the election format. Unlike past party conferences where delegates convened at a central location for speeches and voting, the upcoming presidential election will follow a different approach.

The new format will be more like a standard election, with a walk-in vote. Delegates will verify their details in the electoral album and then cast their votes.

“Justin Frimpong Kodua also elaborated on further rules for the elections:

– Voting centres may house multiple polling stations on the same premises. If delegate numbers exceed a thousand, the Electoral Commission may establish an additional centre.

– Kodua emphasized that there will be no gatherings on voting day. Voters are prohibited from wearing colors or items branded with a candidate’s image, including T-shirts, caps, or posters.

– Delegates must vote individually, not in groups or pairs.

– Voting will occur in a public, open space, not hidden indoors.

– Once a delegate has voted, they cannot re-enter the voting area. Anyone caught instructing a delegate on whom to vote for will be removed by the police.

– After voting, voters must immediately exit the designated voting area. The EC and police are responsible for ensuring all delegates follow these rules.

– Taking photos of votes is strictly prohibited. Anyone caught doing so will be arrested, and their vote will be confiscated
