A state funeral is being held for the wife of former President John Agyekum Kufuor. The service began at 7 a.m. with a procession, followed by a burial mass at 9 a.m. This solemn event took place at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Cantonments, Accra, and was attended by high-profile personalities, politicians, and friends of the late former First Lady. Mrs. Kufuor passed away at her home in Peduase on October 1, at the age of 87.

The final funeral rites for the former First Lady will be performed at Heroes Park in Kumasi on Saturday, November 18.
The late Theresa Aba Kufuor had been a devoted companion of former President Kufuor throughout their 61-year marriage. Originally from a well-known family in Odumase, in the Bono Region, she was a retired nurse and midwife.
After studying at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, and Paddington General Hospital in London, she spent most of her working life in the UK. She was a state-certified midwife with a certificate in premature nursing and was the youngest child of her parents.
