Some 322 Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) House Officers are threatening to sue the Ministry of Health for failing to pay their allowances after completing a one-year mandatory housemanship.
Representatives of the 322 officers have expressed their concerns once more in a written letter, citing earlier exchanges and discussions with the Pharmacy Council and threatening legal action should the problem not be resolved.

“As was respectfully indicated in the letter aforesaid, our Clients were engaged as Pharm D House Officers by the Pharmacy Council acting for and on behalf of the Ministry of Health (hereinafter referred to as “MOH”) for the period commencing 3rd July 2023 and ending 3rd July 2024.”
“We are informed by our Clients that all through the period of their engagement, they were not paid any allowances contrary to the settled practice.
“Our Clients inform us that following the letter aforesaid, a meeting was convoked by the Pharmacy Council on 4th June 2024 on the subject under reference. Our Clients state further that at the said meeting, the Pharmacy Council made a firm assurance of presenting a proposal to the Ministry of Finance (MOF) for the payment of allowances,” part of the letter reads.
