Asante Kotoko SC has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the upcoming Capital City Africa Cup, set to take place in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Despite ongoing efforts and discussions with the event organizers, the club encountered significant visa challenges. After exhausting all possible options, the club concluded that it would be in the best interest of the team to withdraw from the event and focus on immediate priorities.
The decision to withdraw will undoubtedly disappoint supporters who were excited to see the club compete on an international stage. However, Kotoko emphasized that the decision was made to ensure the club continues to uphold its high standards and values. Consequently, the club has officially distanced itself from the Capital City Africa Cup and any associated activities.
Asante Kotoko also announced that the contingent of seven players and technical staff already in the U.S. will return to Ghana on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Upon their return, the team’s focus will immediately shift to building on their strong start in the Ghana Premier League, ensuring continued success in the domestic competition.
