The Ministry of Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs have suspended the operation of the La Traditional Council indefinitely from Thursday, September 26, 2024.
This, according to a letter dated, September 9, 2024, is to allow authorities put right measures in place to ensure the Traditional Council is able to carry out its operation without any difficulty.

“This is to allow both the Regional House and the Ministry to put in place proper measures that will allow for the smooth running of the council,” the letter said.
All governmental institutions have been therefore urged not to conduct business with any person or group claiming to represent or a member of the La Traditional Council.
The letter also directed that all Paramount Stool Land related issues must also be put on hold pending the operation of the Traditional Council or the enstoolment of a new La Paramount Chief (La Mantse) in accordance with section 45 of the Chieftaincy Act.
The La Traditional Council is also expected to hand over all Traditional Council property to the Regional House, as directed by the letter and wait for further directives.

“The kind cooperation of all parties in this regard is appreciated,” the letter concluded.
