The Ghana Police Service has placed a GHS50,000 bounty on a man declared wanted for issuing threats to some public officials in a now viral video.
The suspect known as Ibrahim Mohammed, referred to himself as Kanawu in the video and threatened to harm and shoot the public officials.

The suspect in the video said that the IGP and the Interior Minister had fraudulently recruited people to join the police force in order to sway the results of the election.
He made threats to harass and shoot a number of public figures, including the Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Madam Jean Mensah, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Akuffo Dampare and many others.
The Ghana Police Service in a statement dated yesterday, September 9, 2024, declared Kanawu wanted for the threats he made in the video.
A supporter of the NDC, Ibrahim Mohammed, also known as Commander Kanawu, has been declared wanted by the Ghana Police Service, with a reward of GHS50,000 for anyone who can assist with information leading to his arrest.

The statement said: “The Ghana Police Service has declared wanted a male suspect who is seen in a viral video threatening to shoot and harm some public officials.
“The suspect who addressed himself as Kanawu, threatened violence on the public officials and any other person who stands in their way.”
Adding that anyone with credible information about the whereabouts of the suspect would be handsomely rewarded.
“A reward of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 50,000.00) has been earmarked for anyone who is able to share relevant and credible information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect.”

This comes as the police gear up to try and ensure a free, fair and peaceful elections in the country come December 7.
