Leicester City’s rising star, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, has openly expressed his admiration for Black Stars’ leader, Andre Ayew, dubbing him his football icon. Issahaku, currently impressing on loan from Sporting CP, lamented a recent setback in a 3-1 loss to Coventry City but seized the moment to laud Ayew’s impact on his career.

Issahaku fondly recalled, “When I was coming up, I looked up to André. I liked how he was playing and how much passion he had for football.” Reflecting on their meeting, he described it as “amazing,” emphasizing Ayew’s mentorship and game advice. The 19-year-old, initially gaining attention with Dreams FC, made his debut for the Black Stars at 17 and was named the best player in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
With two goals and eight assists in 24 league appearances, Issahaku is resolute in aiding Leicester City’s quest for top-flight redemption post-relegation.
