The Ghana Amputee team clinched victory in the 2024 AFCON, hosted in Egypt, by defeating Morocco 2-1 in the final match.

Leading up to and following the tournament, the team required financial support, which was generously provided by donors from around the globe. However, the sports minister, Mustapha Ussif, summoned the team to account for the funds they received.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Coach Richard Obeng explained the situation:

“We have already distributed the money from the donations. Upon our return, we remained together as a team in Accra, without any support.”

He continued, “The funds were used for our upkeep, hotel expenses, and transportation to our homes. Although we received tickets, we did not receive any additional logistics. We relied entirely on donors for our sustenance.”

Coach Obeng assured that they would provide a detailed account of how the funds were spent, emphasizing that the money had already been used for their immediate needs.
