Ghana’s Zinabu Issah narrowly missed a medal in the Women’s Shot Put at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Despite achieving a personal best of 8.84 meters in the F57 final, an improvement from her 8.67-meter throw in the qualifiers, she placed 9th overall, falling short of a podium finish.

The gold medal went to Algeria’s Djelal Safia, with Xu Mian of China and Algeria’s Saifi Nassima claiming silver and bronze, respectively.

This marks Zinabu’s second setback, following her earlier disappointment in the Discus event. As Ghana’s medal hopes dwindle, attention now shifts to strongman Tahiru Haruna, who will compete in para-powerlifting on September 8.

Ghana was represented by four athletes at the 2024 Paralympics, with Patricia Kyeremaa and Frederick Assor exiting earlier from the Taekwondo and Para Cycling events. NPC Ghana President Samson Deen remains optimistic about the experience gained by the athletes.
