Apusiga The Poet launches new book in Accra, first copies bought by Mahama and Speaker of parliament for GHS10,000.

Young Talented Ghanaian Poet and Journalist, Hamida Apusiga Ayuba, also known as Apusiga The Poet, successfully launched her debut book titled “The Mask Halls” at the Chief Imam’s Conference Hall of the Ghana National Mosque in Accra last Saturday, September 14, 2024. 

To honour Hamida’s talent and hard work over the years, the first copies of the book were bought for GHS10,000 each by the Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama and the current speaker of parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, who both sent representatives on the day.

“The Mask Hall” is a poignant collection of poems that delves into the lives of Africa’s fearless freedom fighters, shedding light on their untold stories and unwavering dedication to justice.  

This powerful collection of poems takes readers on a journey through the continent’s complex history, confronting harsh realities and celebrating the bravery of those who fought for liberation and freedom.

The book also pays tribute to the unfinished dreams of Ghana’s founder, Kwame Nkrumah, a pioneering figure in the fight for African unity, freedom and self-determination. 

The official launch hosted by Mr. Shamun and Madam Ayisha, in Accra over the weekend was graced by prominent personalities across different facets of Ghanaian society – business, politics, entrepreneurship, media, religion, and the diplomatic society.

Among the notable personalities on the day were MP for Tamale Central Constituency, Honourable Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, seasoned journalist, Umaru Sanda, the Palestine Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Abdul Fatah Alsatari, and the Ambassador of Pakistan to Ghana, Her Excellency Farhat Ayesha.

The chairman on the day was the first director of the Ghana National Mosque, Alhaji Abdul Rahman, and guest of honour was the Ambassador of Namibia, Her Excellency Selma Ashipala-Musavyi.

Speaking to MyAccraonline during the book launch, Hamida seized the opportunity to exclusively announce her next project titled “The Justice Pulse.”

“The Justice Pulse,” will be a social advocacy program that seeks to tackle issues of injustice and inequality in the Ghanaian society.

The Islamic community also supported their sister and daughter on the day.
