Adentan Circuit Court has sentenced 35-year-old carpenter Kingsley Mawuli Kplende to 15 years imprisonment for robbing Grace Dzre Lawal of her iPhone 11, valued at GHC3,500. Kplende, who used a pair of scissors to threaten the victim, pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery and asked for mercy. The court, presided over by Mrs. Sedinam Awo Kwadam, convicted him based on his plea and ordered that the retrieved phone be returned to the complainant.

The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Anim Darko, revealed that the complainant, a student and part-time waitress residing in Lakeside Community 5, was approached by Kplende, a resident of East Legon Hills, on May 19, 2024, at around 4:35 am. As the complainant was heading home, Kplende threatened her with a pair of scissors, causing her to fall and injure herself before he snatched her phone. Nearby individuals who heard her cries for help chased and apprehended Kplende.
