There is good news for women creatives in the capital and beyond who are seeking scholarship opportunities to advance their knowledge and skill set.
With the launch of a scholarship program to educate young women in the creative industries last Friday, Women in Creativity Africa (WICA) is a cutting-edge project designed to empower African women in the creative industries.
Each year, the WICA would provide scholarships to at least fifty young women with creative capabilities so they could receive training in skill development at The Africa Freelancers (TAF) College, a free institution that supports the nation’s creative potential.
During the organization’s launch in Accra last Friday, the CEO and co-founder of WICA, Sandra Ocquaye, announced the scholarship program.
She thanked TAF College for their partnership in helping women hone their skills in the creative industry, which has enormous potential to empower women economically.
The WICA, which was introduced with the theme “Bridging borders, breaking barriers,” aimed to address a number of important issues, including the under-representation of women in the creative industries. These included strengthening the ability of women to break down barriers through entrepreneurship empowerment, talent nurturing, skill development, and mentorship.
