The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ has delivered a verdict in the case of Abdulai Sanusi, a 27-year-old scrap dealer and herbal medicine peddler. After pleading guilty to the charge of causing harm, Sanusi, who is of Nigerien nationality, was sentenced to three years of imprisonment with hard labor. His conviction came as a result of an altercation with a security guard, Vincent Akpotaka, during which he stabbed Akpotaka with a pair of scissors.
Inspector Jacob Kuubal, the prosecutor, provided the court with the details of the incident. The victim, a security guard at Sentuo Oil Refinery, had previously purchased medicine from Sanusi on credit, with a promise to pay later. On the evening of February 12, 2024, Sanusi confronted the victim for payment, but Akpotaka explained he was unable to access cash at the time due to the closure of mobile money agents.
