Did you know there's an International Stingless Bee Centre in Ghana?

Ghana’s International Stingless Bee Centre (ISBC) is a special haven devoted to stingless bee research and protection.

The institution, which is close to Kakum National Park in the Central Region’s Twifo Heman Lower Denkyira district, is a center for ecotourism and environmental education.

The ISBC was founded in 2011 by the University of Cape Coast’s Department of Entomology and Wildlife with the goal of raising awareness of the value of stingless bees to the ecosystem.

These bees are well-known for producing premium honey, pollen, and propolis, and they are essential to pollination. Visitors can taste the honey produced by rare stingless bee species, see them, and discover traditional beekeeping techniques at the center.

The ISBC carries out international research on stingless bees in addition to its conservation and education initiatives.

In order to support the local economy, the center is dedicated to creating honey-based medicines and producing young colonies for retail sales.

The ISBC offers visitors the opportunity to tour a bamboo theater, a bee path, and bee colonies.

Additionally, the institution offers beekeeping workshops and emphasizes the importance of bees to local people.
