Mr. Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru NKZ, has filed a petition to challenge the decision to disqualify him from running as president in the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (SRC) elections.
Guru was disqualified by the SRC’s Electoral Commission on the grounds that he does not meet the residency requirement as stated in the university’s SRC constitution.

Candidates for executive posts are required under the university constitution to be residents of one of the residence halls.
Guru addressed the disqualification in an official statement that was published on X (formerly Twitter).
He stated that he has filed a petition against the ruling with the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs as well as the Electoral Commission.
He emphasised that his legal team has also filed an interim injunction with the Judicial Board in order to temporarily stop the election process until a complete hearing and decision on the subject can be made.
“We understand the frustration and concern this situation has caused among our supporters and the general body of students. However, we want to assure you that our commitment to building an SRC with everyone remains stronger than ever,” Guru stated.
