The case of the O’Reilly Senior High School (SHS) student who was allegedly stabbed to death by a colleague over an argument on whose father was richer was adjourned by court yesterday.
This was due to inconsistences in the age of the suspect, which has since become a matter of concern in the court proceedings.
The La District Court, where the case is being tried, yesterday gave the prosecution 24 hours to produce a report on the age of the accused person.
Chief Inspector Paul Osei Adjei, leader of the prosecution told the court that the report would be ready on Friday, September 20, 2024.
He added that the postmortem report was ready, and the Police Hospital has already taken blood samples of the accused.
He pleaded with the court for the case to be adjourned to next week but the court declined.
The presiding judge, Adwoa Benaso Asumadu-Sakyi argued that the court can not delay such a case of great public interest, and requested that the medical report indicating the age of the accused should be produced in court on Friday, September 20, 2024.
“I won’t accept any delay. I will adjourn the case to tomorrow,” she said.
Some media reports earlier suggested the accused was 23 years, however, the family of the deceased argued that the accused is 24 years contrary to the 18 years court reports reportedly indicated.

The family first raised this concern on September 5, 2024, when the case for first tried at the La District Court.
