Ghana’s Jordan Ayew acknowledged that the team’s lack of experience contributed to their 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde in the AFCON opener.

In a post-game press statement, Ayew expressed, “We lack experience. I am always calm in these situations, but we lack a lot of experience. We can say anything, but if you look at the squad, more than 10 players are at their first AFCON. Such mistakes will happen, and we need to learn quickly because AFCON isn’t waiting for anyone. We will amend and face the reality.”
