During a workshop with the Minority Caucus in Ho, Mahama argued that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) sees the shift as impractical, pointing out the Commission’s current unprepared state and the need for a transparent electoral process.

Highlighting the absence of an election calendar for 2024 and referencing the challenges faced during the December 2023 District Level Elections, Mahama called into question the Commission’s ability to conduct the elections in November effectively. He emphasized the importance of upholding the tradition of credible and transparent December elections and suggested that the proposed date change could be a strategic move by the government to influence the election outcome in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
