The Ashaiman Circuit Court has set the bail amount at Gh¢20,000 for each of the Osumanu siblings, Safianu and Aishatu, who are facing charges for their aggressive confrontation with public officers. The court requires two sureties for the bail, one of which must be substantiated. Since their detainment on February 2, 2024, the siblings have maintained their innocence against the five counts, which include assaulting public officers and causing a commotion during court proceedings.
Their legal representative, Ms. Harriet Ampah-Benning, successfully argued for their release on bail, highlighting Aishatu’s responsibilities as the mother of a young child and Safianu’s credibility as a respected individual unlikely to flee from justice. Following the bail approval by Judge Simon Gaga, the case has been scheduled for a case management conference on March 25, 2024.
