Reggae-Dancehall star Stonebwoy has responded to recent discussions about his comments on his self-funded BHIM concert in December 2023.
The artist made headlines after a video showed him saying that no other artist in his category had sold out the Accra Sports Stadium without sponsorship.
In an interview with Accra’s Hitz FM, Stonebwoy clarified his statement. He explained that his remarks were in response to comments made by artiste manager Gomski, who claimed Dancehall music was a problem in the Ghanaian music scene.
Stonebwoy rejected this view, emphasizing the economic importance of Dancehall. He pointed out that Dancehall events create jobs and boost local businesses, such as hotels and airlines.

“I was pointing out that Dancehall filled the stadium and created jobs. The economic impact cannot be ignored,” Stonebwoy said. He also stressed that his success in selling out stadiums should not be downplayed due to industry politics or fan opinions.
Stonebwoy further explained that his comment about the Accra Sports Stadium was specifically about filling it “without sponsorship” and reiterated his point. “I was very specific. When I speak, I choose my words carefully,” he added.
