The story of Thomas Kwame Amoani; from Asuaba to First Class in Economics at Brunel University London

In 2020, 19-year-old Thomas Kwame Amoani from Asuaba in the Greater Accra Region made headlines by achieving straight A’s in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Thomas had to walk an incredible 12 kilometres every day to get to studies at Adeiso Presbyterian Senior High School.

In a now viral video after the release of the 2020 WASSCE results, Thomas said it was the Grace of God together with his perseverance that pushed him to achieve such a great feat.

He added that his living condition then and his parents poor background motivated him to make a change in their lives.

The government was impressed by his compelling story and extended an offer to him for a full scholarship to study at Brunel University in London.

Thomas further demonstrated his excellence in the classroom in 2022 when Brunel University London in the UK named him the Overall Best Economics Student.

Two years later, he has graduated with with First Class Honors in Economics and Finance from Brunel University London.
