A joint security taskforce took to the streets of Accra in an operation to arrest illegal forex traders in the capital, last week.
Some 13 persons were arrested by the joint security taskforce for engaging illegally in the exchange of foreign currencies.
The operations were conducted in Osu, and Tudu at the central business district in Accra.
The operations in the two areas resulted in the retrieval of huge sums of money from the 13 arrested persons.
A sum of $17,840, CUSD 1,450 and 230 Euros were retrieved.
In addition, 50 Egyptian Pounds, 515,000 Nigerian Naira, CFA 1,167,00, and GHS419,685 were also retrieved.

The suspects together with the ceased cash have been handed over to the police for investigations and prosecution.
The security taskforce was made up of the National Intelligence Bureau, the Ghana Police Service and the National Fusion Centre of the National Security Ministry, as part of efforts to curb the further depreciation of the cedi and regulate forex trading.
The operations is expected to be conducted across the country to aid the Bank of Ghana regulate forex trading in the country.
