As the Black Stars prepare for the final stretch of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has shared an encouraging update on the team’s preparations. Ghana faces two decisive matches, and the outcome will significantly influence their chances of securing a place in the tournament.

Speaking on the readiness of the squad, Twum confirmed that the GFA’s technical team had a crucial meeting with the players to discuss the challenges ahead. “The technical team held a meeting with the players to know the task ahead of them,” Twum said. “The players are ready to give out their best in their final games. We know it wouldn’t be easy, given the circumstances, but the players are ready to give their best.”

The Black Stars are set to face Angola in Luanda on November 15, 2024, followed by a home fixture against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 18, 2024 . With qualification still hanging in the balance, the team is aware that their fate is not solely in their hands. The outcome of these games will depend not only on their performance but also on the results from other teams in their group.

“Our chances of qualifying are not in our hands, but we have to be positive,” Twum emphasized. “The players understand the gravity of the situation, and they are prepared to put everything on the line to secure the best possible results.”

With the Black Stars facing a critical juncture, their prospects for making the AFCON 2025 tournament for the first time since 2000 are uncertain, adding pressure to the final games. But the belief remains strong that the team, under the guidance of head coach Otto Addo, can rise to the occasion.

As Ghana prepares for these pivotal matches, the words of Henry Asante Twum serve as a reminder that the Black Stars are committed to fighting until the very end, with hopes of securing their qualification for the tournament.
