Why the court issued arrest warrants for bloom bar and east end bistro owners

An Accra High Court has issued bench warrants for the arrest of Edem Keith Aweke and Kofi Adjei Maafo, owners of Bloom Bar, due to their repeated failure to appear in court without justification in a quasi-criminal matter. The pair are also proprietors of Blue Chip Hospitality Limited (Blue Chip), which had entered into a tenancy agreement with The Secret Garden to rent a property in Cantonments for their restaurant, East End Bistro. Due to Blue Chip’s failure to pay rent as stipulated, The Secret Garden filed a writ and statement of claim seeking their eviction from the property.

During the pending suit, The Secret Garden discovered that Blue Chip had listed the property for sale to a third party for USD 380,000, despite not owning it. This led The Secret Garden to obtain an injunction to prevent Blue Chip from transferring any interest in the property. However, Blue Chip allegedly violated the court’s orders by transferring their interest in the property to La Maison.
