Last night, a hit-and-run incident at the Spanner bus stop close to Accra Mall regrettably claimed the life of an unnamed woman.
Witnesses said that she was hit by a car while crossing the highway without using the pedestrian bridge, and that additional speeding cars that failed to notice her unconscious body on the road then ran her over.
There has been no information from the Ghana Police Service regarding the unfortunate accident in the capital.

However, a video circulating on social media shows some officers of the Ghana Police Service at the accident scene.
Four men being supervised by two officers in uniform were captured bagging the deceased body and picking it up away from the street.

There has been constant worry over the public not using the pedestrian bridges in Accra.
The poor lighting situation at night due to the lack of traffic lights in major streets in Accra is disturbing.
Even in the video where the dead body was being taken away, the street is extremely dark.

This needs to change immediately with the festive period just around the corner.
