Some motorists who drive along the Atomic Junction Flyover have raised concerns over the poor state of the road.
The drivers said they dread using the stretch on the Legon-Madina Road because the coverings of the expansion joints at the flyover have all gone off.
They said the sound their vehicles make when they pass over the flyover puts some fear in them.
Some motorist added that the constant bumping of tyres into gaps could cause them to lose control and lead to possible accidents.
So to avoid that from happening, they are sometimes forced to use the Atomic roundabout when traffic is minimal.
The expansion joints are meant to ensure the longevity of the road by preventing stress and cracking.
The situation, the drivers described as disturbing and called on the Ghana Highway Authority to have it repaired before it leads to any accidents.
In response, the Highway Authority said the division in charge of bridges is aware and there were plans in place to repair the road.
The division, the Highway Authority said, were even on the grounds just last week to assess the situation.
The authority added that repair works would commence soon, but in the meantime appealed to motorists to “slow down when using the bridge.”
