Ghanaian musician, Maradona Adjei Yeboah popularly known as Guru NKZ, is back in the University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC) race after winning the appeal of his disqualification.
The Appeals Board of the University of Ghana SRC overturned his initial disqualification for allegedly not meeting the required criteria to run for the SRC presidential race.

The Vice Dean has now ordered that the names of Guru, Amponsah, and their running mates be added to the list of presidential candidates, thereby bringing them back into the race even though the judicial body upheld their disqualification.
“You are further, directed to carry out the balloting for all the SRC candidates vetted by the vetting committee on Monday (September 16, 2024), between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon at the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs (ODSA).
“You are to immediately communicate this to all the candidates to assemble at the premises of the ODSA for the balloting,” the letter dated yesterday, September 15 read.
University of Ghana’s Electoral Commission, per the letter, is to also provide the list of candidates and their positions to the University of Ghana’s Computer Services (UGCS) after balloting.
“This is to enable the UGCS to make the necessary preparations for voting to take place on a date to be agreed with candidates (before or after the balloting) but the date so agreed should not be later than Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024.”

Guru was disqualified by the SRC’s Electoral Commission on the grounds that he does not meet the residency requirement as stated in the university’s SRC constitution, last month.
The rapper later filed a petition to challenge the decision to disqualify him from running as president in the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (SRC) elections.
