The government has announced that Monday, August 5, 2024, will be observed as an additional public holiday in Ghana. Founders’ Day, a statutory public holiday celebrated annually on 4th August to honour the founders of the nation, falls on a Sunday this year. In response, President Akufo-Addo, by Executive Instrument (E.I) and in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), has declared the following Monday as a public holiday. This decision ensures that all citizens have the opportunity to commemorate Founders’ Day appropriately.
