Ghana has just inaugurated its first commercial gold refinery in Accra, which is a significant milestone for the country.
The Royal Ghana Gold Refinery can process up to 400 kilograms of gold per day and aims to source gold from small-scale and artisanal miners initially.
This new development is expected to help curb gold smuggling and increase national earnings by refining gold domestically.
It will also create numerous job opportunities, providing direct employment for 80-120 people and 500 indirect jobs.
