Allied Health Professionals at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have called on the government to appoint a Director for Allied Health to supervise the affairs of the hospital.
Failure to do so, according to the chairman of the group, Dr Francis Kwakye, would lead to the withdrawal of their services at the hospital.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra yesterday, the chairman said that allied health professionals at the hospital have not been treated well over the years due the absence of a director to fight for their cause.

“We are demanding the freedom now, not tomorrow. We are saying that we need a director who will supervise the activities of allied health professionals in Korle Bu,” the chairman said.
He added that they “haven been denied opportunities for over 50 years and counting, and all we are asking for is that they give us our freedom.”
The board of the hospital, he said, have failed to grant them audience despite many attempts by the allied health professionals to set up meeting.
The chairman also said the group are aware of an advertised position to hire a deputy director, but what they want and deserve is “a director and even deputy directors under the director.”
